Made in Adobe® Flash CS3® for Chris Hill’s Video III (MA 310). This flash video is intended to be displayed as an interactive installation piece.

This piece was a reaction to the absurd nature of hearing the genuine dialog of a community fighting to survive pitted against public relations so thinly veiled it was hard not to, “pay attention to the man behind the curtain.”

Living (?) Conditions

Beauty loomed on the corner looking lonely. The layer of unclean covered this area like dirt on a coffin. The scent of neglect, which was heavy in the air, crawled into the nostrils, through the mouth, and down the throat, making anyone who dared to attempt breathing gag heavily. About ten feet off the unhappy looking dirt road sat a house, that challenged it’s surroundings for the title of “Most Unappealing Thing You’ve Ever Seen.”

Ripped Open

The light touched down slowly setting fire to virgin earth, once cool and untouched, now inflamed and violated. The fingertips drifted roughly over the aging bark. The words screamed through the air slamming into flora and fauna, trees fell with the power of deep and terrible passion.

Air escaped a sullen lung, and denim landed on unforgiving grass, fingernails took what revenge they could on a cruel and unusual planet; in the failure of that attempt the fists brought butterfly earthquakes to a place on the other side of the globe.
